About

The Tuskegee University Police Department (TUPD) has jurisdiction over all campus grounds; remote facilities, and University-owned housing units for off-campus students and faculty. TUPD is a fully functioning police department that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays. TUPD has 4 major divisions, dispatch, patrol, investigations, and parking enforcement. The department is comprised of sworn and non-sworn personnel.

TUPD is given authority from the code of Alabama statutes section 16-47-10. TUPD’s sworn officers have the same full law enforcement powers and responsibilities under state law as municipal police officers and county sheriffs.

The Tuskegee University Police Department (TUPD) is comprised of a dedicated staff that is committed to providing professional service to all students, faculty/staff, and guests. TUPD works closely with local agencies to ensure continuity of service and to provide an enjoyable campus and community experience. Training and education are at the forefront of this department so that all TUPD staff is familiar with best practices in this rapidly changing field.

We welcome open dialogue about a wide array of current events and social issues. In a society that demands accountability and transparency the staff of TUPD strives to meet these demands with professionalism and care.
